What Are Free Antivirus Software Downloads?

Things are not always what they seem and when it comes to the internet, that is really the case. Yes, there are many anti virus software programs that you can download for free and they work pretty good. But the reason they are giving it to you for free is because they have an even better version that they want you to purchase. Just keep this in mind.

'Free' and 'Free trial'

Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, but bare with me. Some people may not know. 'Free' is Free: you download, you use, you keep. Never have to pay a dime. 'Free trial' means you download it for free, BUT at the end of 30 or 60 or 90 days or whatever they say, you pay if you don't cancel. Simple, yet people screw this up a lot.

Freeware vs Shareware

Simple. Freeware is a flat out functional piece of software that you download and use for an unlimited time with no cost. Shareware is usually offers you a trial version with certain features only available if you buy the full version.

Here is a list of Free AntiVirus Software. We are not affiliated with any of them, except for the fact that I use Avast on my computer.

Avast! Home Edition
AVG Anti-Virus Free
Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus
BitDefender Free Edition
Microsoft Security Essentials
Panda Cloud Antivirus
PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition

I'm sure there are more, especially if you add the ones that a have the 'Free Trial." Just do a little research and pick one that seems to get a good review on sites like CNET and PC Web.
